  • After the admission is confirmed you will be receiving the admit card. Even after admission, you can change the subjects. You can even issue a duplicate NIOS admit card if the previous one is lost in any case.

    NIOS Admission

    National Institute of open school learning is the most reliable platform for all the ones who wish to continue their study after a leap. It is an institute that is designed for providing education to all the sections of society. Now all the ones who failed or dropped in 9th and 11th can now easily appear in 10th and 12th with the help of NIOS. The admission section is divided into two different blocks. In one block the students who like to appear in the public exam in the month of March/April are added whereas in block 2 the students who like to appear in the month of September/October every year are added.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Secondary:

    • The minimum age to take admission in the Secondary Course is 14 years
    • A learner who has passed class VIII and has valid proof of attaining 14 years of age can apply for registration to the Secondary Course.
    • A learner giving a self-certificate “I have studied enough to be able to pursue secondary course” is also eligible for admission to the Secondary Course.
    • A learner who had studied at the secondary level can also seek admission in NIOS either to complete his course or to improve his performance.

    Sr. Secondary:

    • The minimum age to take admission in the Senior Secondary Course is 15 years
    • In order to take admission in the Senior Secondary course, the learner must have passed the Secondary course from a recognised Board.

    Supporting Documents required

    The learner has to be ready with the Scanned copy/soft copy (jpg, jpeg files) of the given below documents which will be required to be uploaded while registering for the Admission to Secondary and Senior Secondary courses

    • Recent Passport size color Photograph
    • Signature (preferably in Black Ink)
    • Valid identity proof (like Aadhaar Card or Passport or Ration card or etc.)
    • Valid proof of Date of Birth (like Aadhaar Card with date of birth printed on it in the dd/mm/yyyy format, Birth Certificate etc.)
      A valid proof of Residence (like Aadhaar Card with complete address printed on it, valid Passport etc.).
    • Address proof i.e. Aadhaar Card/Water Bill/Electricity Bill/Voter ID/Ration Card/Indian
    • Passport/Statement of Operational Bank Account/Appointment Letter from the Employer on Printed Letter Head, if living in rented accommodation – copy of any proof of permanent address along with present Rented Agreement
    • Class 8th marksheet (in case of secondary course) or class 10th marksheet (in case of senior secondary course)
    • Social category/Caste certificate (in case the learner belongs to SC/ST/OBC social category).o Ex-serviceman certificate (in case he/she is an Ex-serviceman)
    • Disability certificate (in case he/she is having any kind of disability)
    • Fail Mark sheet of previous Board, failing which Transfer of Credit (TOC) marks will not be
    • Updated in NIOS result. If TOC Board marked with (*Other) is selected then the Result should be available on the Concerned Board Website or Learner has to submit result verification letter from Concerned Board as per NIOS norms

    After reading the instructions click on the “Register” button in the Stream 1 block 1 section. This will display some other important instructions and a declaration. Read the instructions/declaration and then click on Proceed. The learner can click on Cancel button if he/she does not want to continue the process.

    Important Date of admission :-

    Block for Online Admission Dates of Online Admission Stream-1 Fee Examination in which the students can appear first time
    Block-1 (April/May) 16th March – 31 July Normal Fee April/May
    1 August – 15th August with late fee of Rs. 200/-
    16th August to 31st August with late fee of Rs. 400/-
    1st Sept. to 15th Sept with late fee of Rs. 700/-
    Block-II (October/November) 16th Sept. to 31st January Normal Fee October/November
    1st February to 15th February with late fee of Rs. 200/-
    16th February to 28th February with late fee of Rs. 400/-
    1st March. to 15th March with late fee of Rs. 700/-

    Note : Credit Transfer Facility is also available.

    Transfer of Credit (TOC)

    Ex-Secondary/Senior Secondary learners of the following Boards of School Education who have passed in at least one subject, but have not qualified in the course, may seek admission in the respective course at NIOS and avail facility of TOC.

    A learner should seek Transfer of Credits (TOC) at the time of admission in the subjects which are included in NIOS scheme of studies.

    The learners who had applied for Transfer of Credit (TOC) have to send original failed marksheet mentioning the Reference Number on the back of Mark Sheet to the concerned Regional Centre.

    Dual Enrollment and Part Admission

    Under this provision, if in case a learner is studying in a regular school, or has already passed Secondary/ Senior Secondary examination or any other higher course from any recognised Board/University, he/she may opt for upto four subjects of his/her choice, to update knowledge and educational qualifications. However, on passing, only the Marksheet will be issued and no other Certificate will be issued. The entry requirement for dual enrolment and part admission will be as per NIOS admission rules
